What do we expect from the COP 30 climate conference?

The UN climate conference COP 30 will convene in November in the city of Belem, Brazil. The annual climate change conference is not only the UN's most important climate policy decision-making arena, but also the world's largest climate event, bringing together representatives of states, companies, cities, research institutes and civil society.

 The climate conference will take place at a time when there are many different and multi-directional geopolitical tensions. However, climate change has not stopped. It is progressing rapidly.

The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Economics and Management of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry are organizing a panel discussion via Zoom on Wednesday 27 August at 14:15 - 15:00 "What do we expect from the UN Climate Conference COP 30?

Environmental Counselor Marjo Nummelin from the Ministry of the Environment, Research professor Raisa Mäkipää from Nature Resource Institute Finland, and Anna Leena Raij, Communication and community Lead of the Climate Leadership Coalition CLC, have agreed to join the panel. Nummelin is Finland's chief climate negotiator, and Mäkipää vice chair of the Finnish Climate Change Panel. Raij comes from the CLC, which is the largest non-profit climate business network in Europe.

The Professors of Practice Hannele Pokka and Kaisa Karttunen will moderate the panel. 

The event is open to everyone.
